WE'RE IN AFRICA!!!!!

We made it to Cairo!  And in less than 72 hours we'll get to meet Levi.  We just wanted to send an update saying we made it here—uneventfully.  When we got here yesterday, we were so tired.  We came straight to our hotel via taxi, toured the hotel, ate supper (you'll laugh at what we ordered from the hotel restaurant—Club sandwich for Paul and Fish and chips for me)…that was for you J&J…watched the BIG Ramadan celebration, went to the hot tub, then came back to our room and fell asleep.

After missing our shuttle to downtown this morning, we called a taxi (with the help of the concierge).  He was our cab driver all day—he took us to the pyramids—very cool and very HOT!!!  He tooks us to the Cairo Museum where we saw enormous artifacts from centuries ago. They had many things that were found in King Tut's tomb.  Very cool—and it was indoors out of the sun.

Next, we ate lunch and then our cab driver took us to an outdoor market…it had lots of cool Egyptian souvenirs and it was about sunset (which is the time that Muslims break their fast during Ramadan), so we decided to head back to the hotel.  It was a long drive back—only because our cabbie got lost, we hopped out, gave him $20 and found another driver to take us to our hotel.

Cairo is great.  We love it…and we were saying at lunch that it still doesn't feel real that we are on our way to [pick up Levi.  Please continue to pray for us, our safety, and our trip home.  It's going to be a long flight back with Levi—we realized that on the flight over.

Logan and Landon, we miss you guys and really wish you were here with us.  Logan, we saw the Sphinx today and the pyramids.  And I found out that Nerfertiti was King Tut's mother-in-law.  HAHA!!  Daddy and I said it over and over today, "Thus the Sphinx, thus the pyramids, thus the bust of Nerfertiti".  Landon, hope you are having lots of fun—we miss you both so much!!  Love you lots!!

Good night!!

Mandy

p.s. We brought the wrong size converter for our computer, so hopefully we can borrow someone's in Ethiopia…keep checking.
