Today I got an email from Anna from America World with some information about some more waiting. Here's what part of it said:
"We learned today that MOWA [MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN"S AFFAIRS] is being required by the government to close from tomorrow through July 23rd for training and meetings. The entire ministry will be closed and therefore we will not be able to get any MOWA adoption documents, including recommendation letters during this time. In order for any family to pass court, we must receive a favorable recommendation letter from MOWA. Any court dates that are currently scheduled during the time MOWA is closed will be rescheduled for a later date. I know the main question at the front of everyone’s mind is court closures. At this time Court has not confirmed if or when they would be closing. There are still many rumors that they will remain open and will not close. We are very optimistic this may be the case. We will know for sure in the next few weeks."
The court closure that Anna is speaking about happens every year from August to the end of September. When the court closes, cases are not heard and court dates are not issued and adoptions are not finalized. So, there's a little time crunch for us anyway...but now the MOWA is closing for a couple of weeks. The rumored dates of the court closing are Aug 7-Sept 27, but as of yet, there are no confirmations on those dates. Pretty disappointing.
