We have been home from Ethiopia exactly 2 months today. I can remember making our LLLOOONNNGGG flight into Detroit, and then being so excited to only be 3 hours from the boys and family. I can remember hugging the boys, Paul's parents, and our friends that made the trip to the airport. I can remember barely being able to keep my eyes open after putting our 3 boys to bed, and having to "call it a night" at 9pm. I can even remember waking up at 3am (because of the time change) ready to start my day. It has been a whirlwind 2 months, but it has been awesome. We have had so much support from family and friends. We've had friends bring us meals, offer to babysit, send us cards, give us gifts, and remind us that they are praying by sending a note, email, or phone call.
One of the questions that we have been asked since the beginning of the adoption process (and even at our last visit to the adoption clinic) is "what type of support system do you have?" We have always been able to answer that question with many examples of how we are being looked after and how family and friends are taking care of us. I am so glad that we are where we are, and that God called us to adoption in Warren, OH as a part of North-Mar Church. I'm reminded of that Scripture that God takes care of our needs, and He absolutely has taken care of us through this process.
Even by the evidence of having read this blog entry, we appreciate your concerns, your prayers, and your time. For those who have supported us along the way with gifts and prayers, we are so grateful for the blessing you have been to our family, and especially to Levi. I know that God is going to do something awesome through him, and you have been a part of that.
The initial challenge for me at the beginning of the adoption was for Paul and I to start something that only God could finish. And, even though, we still have more steps to complete before we are "finished", my heart is FULL knowing that God called us and has not left us to complete it on our own...He has been there every step that we have taken--forwards and backwards. Praise the Lord!!!
In closing, I had an idea to take pictures of Levi at each month we have had him (just like for a newborn), so here are the pictures of the first two months of Levi Abatu Armitage!!
